Remember when you were a kid and the month leading up to Christmas was magical?
For many kids, part of the fun is the tradition of opening a tiny treat or gift each day as part of an advent calendar. The ones I remember were cardboard flaps that you would lift to reveal a piece of candy or small toy. But why should kids get all the fun?
Everyone is so busy especially in the run-up to Christmas, trying to finish last-minute gifts, shopping and wrapping presents. It is, therefore, nice to take some time out at this time of year, to knit something special for our loved ones.
A couple of months ago I came up with the idea of 24-simple advent patterns to offer an alternative to last-minute gifts.
I had not anticipated how well received this would be. I had thought wouldn’t it be fun to knit this with a few people leading up to Christmas, there was no way I could have predicted so many knitters would want to join!
The Advent Calendar 2019: 24-simple patterns will be posted on my blog for FREE from tomorrow, December 1st.
On day 1 you will receive the bigger pattern, but I assure you that you can finish it in time for Christmas!
Each pattern is approx 1-hour work, depending on your gauge. To have all the patterns finished by Christmas Day you may need to knit daily.
Ps:
I will host a discussion thread in my Ravelry group where we will share ideas and chat as everyone unwraps the surprises, feel free to join us!
