With waste yarn in a similar weight but contrasting color to your MC, provisional cast on 72 sts.
Switch to MC.
Row 1 (RS): Purl all stitches.
Row 2 (WS): *p3tog, (k1, p1, k1) into the next stitch; rep from * to end.
Row 3 (RS): Purl all stitches.
Row 4 (WS): *(k1, p1, k1) into the next stitch, p3tog; rep from * to end.
Repeat rows 1 – 4, 4 times more (total 20 rows).
Place the live stitches into a spare circular needle or waste yarn and cut both yarns.
