Cozy Beginnings: 7 Weeks of Knit Fundamentals
Cost for 7-Week Course: $175 (one-hour lesson for 7 weeks each Saturday at 10:30 AM)

This 7-week course is designed to guide new and returning knitters through the essentials. We’ll start by understanding yarn and building basic skills, then move on to techniques that add depth and versatility to your craft. By the end, you’ll have some beautiful handmade projects to cherish!
Note: This class is designed for adults, but younger knitters aged 14+ are welcome to join.
Course Breakdown
Preparation Phase: Now through January 10
Take this time to gather your materials, including yarn, needles, and notions (supply list provided*).
Week 1 (January 11): Introduction to Yarn Weights, Basics, and 2 Small Projects
- Explore yarn weights and how they affect your projects.
- Begin knitting with basic stitches.
- Learn foundational increases and decreases.
- Project: Pot Holder & Cowl– two small, satisfying projects to get started, working flat and in the round.
Week 2 (January 18): Yarn Substitutions, Color Changes, and Finishing Techniques
- Learn how to substitute yarns.
- Master essential color-change techniques to add flair to your work.
- Practice seaming techniques and finishing steps for polished results.
- Project: Small sachet – a piece to master color-changing.
Week 3 (January 25): Pattern Reading and Pattern Adjustments
- Discover how to read and interpret patterns, including symbols and abbreviations.
- Learn to make pattern adjustments to fit your needs.
- Guidance on selecting patterns that suit your skill level and interests.
- Project: Conchiglia bag– a flexible pattern to experiment with colors, adjust the size, and reinforce your new skills in interpreting instructions.
- Choose what to work on from weeks 4 to 7 from a selection of curated designs (a cardigan, a sweater, or a blanket) or, if you’d prefer, we’ll research and choose your first big project together.
Weeks 4–7 (February 1 to February 22): Working on Your First Big Project
- February 1: Cast on party!
- With each week, build on your skills, learning alongside fellow makers.
- Check-ins and support as you work on this larger project at your own pace.
This course will give you the confidence to take on projects of any size, and by the end, you’ll have crafted something uniquely yours!
* After you complete the payment, a PDF containing all the class details, including weekly topics, a materials list, and helpful links, will be available for download.
