The Fibonacci blanket knitting pattern was born because I’ve been wanting to make something using the Fibonacci sequence in stripes. I’ve always liked the way it looks, but I’ve always dreaded making a blanket in some sort of solid fabric.
The Fibonacci Sequence is the series of numbers: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, … The next number is found by adding up the two numbers before it.
I was inspired by the sequence and used the numbers of the sequence to dictate my stripe pattern calculations.

The Fibonacci blanket knitting pattern is very simple, just a repeat of stockinette stitch in two different colors.
This Fibonacci blanket knitting pattern is knitted from the bottom up, worked flat (back and forth).

Throw: 52″x60″ / 132×152 cm
Twin: 66″x90″ / 168×229 cm
Full / Double: 90″x108″ / 229×274 cm
Queen: 96″x108″ / 244×274 cm

GAUGE, NEEDLES, NOTIONS

Gauge: 22 stitches x 34 rows over 4”/10cm
Needles: US 6 – 4.0 mm
Notions: Tapestry needle

This Fibonacci blanket knitting pattern is designed for a Sport bamboo/cotton blend. I used Ice Yarns pure-bamboo.
Yarn: Yarn Weight 2 Fine (Sport, Baby)
