Why Different Home Decor is the Best Thing for Your Personality Type

Why Different Home Decor is the Best Thing for Your Personality Type

Whether youโ€™re an introvert or an extrovert, your home is where you live, so your home decor should reflect your personality type.

If you have read my post “How to Decor Smart for Your Myers-Briggs Personality Type” and if you had sat through the zillion-question Meyers-Briggs personality test you may know, extroverts and introverts need different things from pretty much every aspect their lives.

Now, a new movement is emerging that encourages personality-first home decor. It’s called intuitive design. Itโ€™s the practice of designing your home based on personality, dictated by the gut instincts of the resident.

Itโ€™s all about creating different zones that serve the purpose to give you whatever you need out of your home.
For someone, it might mean filling your home with pictures of fantastic people, while for others all it takes is a good library. Decorating your home based on your extroverts and introverts will give it a harmonized and balanced feeling that fits your lifestyle, allowing you to live in comfort.

If youโ€™re an extrovertโ€ฆ

Extroverts tend to go bigger, bolder, and brighter. They thrive the presence of others, which means create spaces where there are zones for conversations.
For example, my parents, both ESTJ, have extra seating like poofs, and ottomans, and a bar cart where people can congregate, and chat. They love having interesting accessories, artifacts, and musical instruments.
Extrovert Must-Haves: a big and spectacular dining table,ย and an eye-catching statement piece.

If youโ€™re an introvertโ€ฆ

Introverts are homebodies by nature, so they put a lot of work into making sure that home is a sanctuary. That means comfortable, inviting furnishings and touchable decor.
Itโ€™s all about using colors of the same tone or neutral colors and keeping it about the textures.
My house (I’m an INFJ and my husband an INTJ) is a mix organic materials like wood, and full of pillows and books, so you can cozy up and say, โ€œsee ya later,โ€ to the rest of the world.
Introvert Must-Haves: cozy throws, reading nooks, carpeting that’s soft underfoot, and a quiet chaise longue.
