How to Knit a Kindle Cover

I am in love with Kindle!
I resisted for a very long time as I always thought I would not enjoy a Kindle because I love books!
Yes, I love to hold a book in my arms and I adore the smell of the pages!
Oh my, how I was wrong! A Kindle is such a great thing!
Donโ€™t get me wrong, I still buy printed books and I still love them so much, but thanks to Kindle I can read wherever I am, I can take it with me wherever I go!

So, shortly after I got my Kindle I had to make a cover for it and I opted for one very simple. Here is the knitted pattern in case if you want to make one for your Kindle!
The main stitch of my knitted Kindle cover is the Raspberry stitch, also called the Trinity Stitch or Blackberry stitch. It is a textured bobble stitch with staggered bunches of stitches that resemble a raspberry bush.

How to Knit a Simple Kindle Cover

How many stitches would you cast on?

Measure the width and length of your device (generally 5โ€ณ / 13 cm wide and 7โ€ณ / 18 cm long) then choose your yarn and make a gauge in your favorite stitch.
To make an accurate gauge swatch, cast on enough stitches to equal approximately 4″ / 10 cm and work in pattern to make a square.

Take your stitches off the needle and, without stretching the fabric, place a tape measure on your work and gently pin where the tape measure reads 1″ / 1 cm. Count your stitches.

Write the number of your stitches down (S).
Your desire is for a 5โ€ณ/ 13cm x2 (both front and back), so your math will take your number of stitches (S) divided by 4″ /or 10 cm (W or wide of your swatch) now multiply by 7โ€ณ / 18 cm (dW or desired width) = Result is to cast-on โ€ฆ nr of stitches.

Now for the Rows Calculations

Measure the swatch number of rows and enter the number of rows and the measured length.
The formula for rows needed = dL (desired length) x R/L (R=measured rows and L is length measured).
