I always tell you to make sure your home has personality and reflects yourself.
Iโve seen many homes where you get no sense of the people who live there. Sometimes itโs like walking into a hotel.
So take a real, careful, and honest look around your home.
Does it look like โyouโ? Does it reflect your personality?
If it doesnโt you might consider some of my advice for creating a home that really reflects you.
Colour in
Mixing up colors, patterns and textures will give your space a unique look.
We all know that color can have profound effects on our mood.
It is therefore important to choose the colors in your home carefully. Consider your personality and the atmosphere you want to create when deciding on a color scheme.
You should adhere to the 60-30-10 rule when decorating your home. Your dominant color should occupy 60% of your space, while your secondary and accent colors should occupy 30% and 10% respectively of your space.
To add personality to the dรฉcor in your home, more focus should be on
Old fashion details
An object or piece of furniture with some of the patina of life adds a lot of character.
Easy items to add to your current decor are throw pillows, rugs, and small furniture pieces.
Choose what needs to be investment pieces that really last and then shop around for little bargains when it comes to the rest.
Space for your life
Design your space for the life you really live.
If you’d rather have an office or indoor gym, feel free to buy some equipment for convenience.
Do you like sports, music, sewing, reading, or fashion? So show your hobbies!
Donโt be afraid to change your space, you can always repaint, move the furniture back, rehang the curtains.
Surround yourself with the things you love and need.
Add Memorabilia
Adding sentimental pieces can help you feel connected to your roots and beginnings when you are feeling stressed or out of place.
You can include some other favorites, such as some art from travels. Add in pieces that tell your story and bring you comfort.
Don’t Forget The Little Things
The smaller, silly and characteristic pieces of your home are really the ones that can tell your story and make your home the perfect, safe haven you deserve.
If you enjoy a cup of coffee each morning, pour it into personalized mugs for optimal pleasure, mine is a silly Totoro-shaped one.
Beyond mugs, decorating tables with centerpieces, adding scented candles to the bathrooms, and playing with pillows on the couches can add those finishing touches.
I assure you when your friends and family come over for that fabulous dinner party, they’ll be impressed by your decor’s unique personality and style.
