You Deserve a Fantastic Project bag

Thereโ€™s a lot of accessories that come with knit obsession, like yarn, stitch markers, tape measures, and tapestry needles. But a godsend of the organization is a good project bag.

As with most things in life, I’m very demanding about what I want from a project bag. They come in an endless variety of design, but they are pricey.
So I have knitted my idea of the perfect project bag.

Whether you’re complementing your everyday wardrobe with stylish ease, heading to the beach or the market in style, or adding just a touch of texture to your project bag, this shell-inspired bag is essential for your warm-weather adventures.
And, however you style it, youโ€™ll be carrying a bit of sea with you.

Conchiglia (means shell in Italian) calls to mind the epitome of sea-soaked style, it is created to reflect that stillness and breathtaking beauty of shells on the seashore, and the peace that one can find in the seashore.

The pattern blends seamlessly on this thoughtfully designed bag, it provides both an engaging and repetitive knit so that adventurous beginners and experienced knitters will find that this pattern satisfies their creative itch for a challenge or familiarity.
The bag is knitted in the round from bottom up.
The base is worked in a Garter Stitch pattern. Stitches are then worked in a charted shell pattern, for textural and visual interest.
To the end, a sturdy garter pattern for adding more structure to the die cut handles (the handles are built into the bag by creating โ€˜buttonholesโ€™ in the top band.)
And there is a pocket! A medium-sized pocket, perfect for your phone.

Look counts, and my project bag is in pure Australian and New Zealand Merino from glenheavenknits.

I plan Conchiglia as a project bag, 15″ (38 cm) deep x 13″ (33 cm) circumference, so you can easily carry medium size projects or even a few smaller ones.

A few tips for customizing the Project bag to your taste very quickly.

  1. I love the merino yarn in my hand, but if you want a sturdy bag, knit with two strands of yarn at the same time!
  2. The size of the bag is easily adjustable, due to the nature of the pattern. Add or remove shells and make your design!
