Day 18 in the 24-simple advent patterns: Star Cup Cozy

Knit these beautiful and romantic Star Cup Cozies! They work up so quickly and make wonderful gifts for coffee and tea lovers!
Personally, I like the look of the two colors combination pattern rather than just one color.
What do you think? You can experiment with one or two colors and see what your preference is.

Row 3: Knit.
Row 4; P3, Make Star, *p1, Make Star; rep from * to last 3 sts, p3.

Repeat rows 1-4 four times (a total of 20 rows). Depending on how tall your cup is, please modify the number of rows accordingly and be sure to end on the wrong side or even-numbered row.

Knit the next row (RS) and cast on 20 sts at the end.
Bind off purl-wise.

Star Stich Pattern In 2 Colors

To make a two-color star stitch pattern you work 2 rows of the star stitch pattern with a main color and change to a contrasting color on the next 2 rows. Repeat these 4 rows to form a two-color star stitch pattern.

Finishing
Using a yarn needle, sew the end of the cast-on piece to the start of the cast-on, this creates the button loop.
Sew on the button in its appropriate place.
