How to Balance Being a Multi-projects Knitter

So many people were struggling with balancing being a multi-projects knitter.
Letโ€™s preface this whole thing with the fact that we ALL have multi WIP.
Being a knitter means knit many things we love and thatโ€™s the beauty of it, but when it comes to being real, itโ€™s important to know how to juggle all the things that can pull at your attention.

But then we get a few inches into a project and we start drowning in miles of stockinette or start a tedious stitch pattern that requires constant attention, we start thinking โ€œthis project is never going to end.โ€ For many of us, it can be a projectโ€™s death knell and it finishes with start another WIP.

One of the BEST things about being a multi-projects knitter is that if one WIP isnโ€™t performing well or I need a break from it, my love for knitting wonโ€™t fail.
I am passionate about more than one thing and Iโ€™ve been lucky enough to pursue each project while also driving profits into my business because of how Iโ€™ve managed my passion for knitting.

Where do you start when you have a bunch of good WIP and you want to turn them into FO?

  1. Use a project strategy.
Start cataloging: one project on-the-go, one for mindless social (or TV) knitting, one to challenge you or the one long term project. The list can go on, find yours and start knit just a few rows a day.
The idea is to give each project time in your daily routine.
  2. Set deadlines
And keep them in mind. I have monthly deadlines, and let the other projects linger for a bit while I power through the one that has to be finished.
My BEST advice would be to finish that one with something that will either: help you make money OR help you fulfill a dream.
  3. How many?
Set a number of active WIP and try to stick to that number. As a WIP is finished, replace it with something similar.
A tip: I donโ€™t start anything new until I finish one WIP first!
  4. Needles
So, you have to steal needles from another WIP (yes, sometimes it happens!). Take my knitter’s notes and write all the information down: needle size, length, yarn,โ€ฆ and slip it into the project bag.
If you think youโ€™ll remember these things, trust me, you wonโ€™t.
