How to plan your 2021 to achieve your next goal as a knit designer

I plan my next goal to achieve as a knit designer a month before the new year gets started. I start setting goals in November or December because it just feels so good to be prepared for the new year.
Everything that you can achieve has to start with the right thoughts and with believing in yourself.

I have my own roadmap and I use it every year for the future of my business. I know I am new to this but might be helpful for those amazing knit designers out there to share what is working for me.

Set Your Destination

If you canโ€™t see where you are going, how are you going to get there?
You need a destination, how long it will take to get there, and what the marker will be when you are halfway there.
So you need a goal for the new year: can be an income goal, a goal for publishing, or a number of hits you want on your blog.
Look ahead to your destination. Think about the day you will achieve your goal for this year and make it a good one.
This is your dream destination.

Break into 12 Steps

So you have your goal (or more than one). Now break this goal into 12 steps to get to your goal. The 12 steps are now going to be your monthly goals.
These goals should be things that need to be done in an order to accomplish your goal.
It is sometimes easiest to work this backwards rather than forwards.
Some goals can even be broken into 12 equal parts.
Can be about new designs, call for magazine submissions, call for testers,โ€ฆ
Take each of the monthly goals and decide what you need to do each week to accomplish that goal for the month. This will give you one task (or group of tasks) to accomplish each week.
These things can be uniform tasks like doing something evenly four times, or it can be some steps necessary to complete the โ€œbig stepโ€ by the end of the month. It may even only take you two manageable steps to accomplish your โ€œbig step,โ€ and you can use the extra time to get ahead.

Natalie Bacon and Jenna Kutcher both say that โ€œThoughts lead to Feelings, Feelings lead to Actions, and Actions lead to Results.โ€
And I LOVE this idea!
One mile at a time, I am getting closer to my destination, and you?
