Spotlight on: Yesenia from Seniya Studio

Recently I got a chance to catch up with Yesenia, a crocheter, a knitter, and she creates whimsical and unique jewelry pieces.
She has a strong eye for colors and attention to detail, making it easy to fall in love with her.

Yesenia is otherwise known as “Seniya Studio” on Instagram, where you can find her wearing her beautiful smile, a handmade outfit, and a unique, bold piece of jewelry.

I recently interviewed her for my blog. Take a look at what inspires Yesenia and what being a maker means to her.

1. Could you introduce yourself to my readers?

Hi there, My name is Yesenia and I am the hands behind Seniya Studio. I have been Designing knit, crochet, and jewelry for over 10 years. When I am not designing I have a 9-5 office job. This doesnโ€™t sound as creative as my business though and I will rather be creating with my hands. Iโ€™m a lover of coffee, plants, dog mom of two rescued pit bulls and I have a big obsession with earrings.

2. What moved you to start your adventure as Knit & Crochet Designer?

I love a good shape and structure for a garment. I wanted something no matter how the taste changes I can incorporate into my wardrobe. Creating pieces that any skill level or maker (knit or crochet) can enjoy.

3. What inspires your design style?

I always loved to create pieces that were simple and chic and easy to pair with different pieces in my closet. I love to create minimalist pieces that will be timeless all while making a statement.

4. What is your favorite part about design patterns?

I love seeing my ideas come to life and other people creating my pieces! That’s the best part.

5. Do you have a favorite pattern of yours?

I really love my cozy plant duo set. I have a small (ok big) obsession with my plants.

6. How did you get to be interested in jewelry, and what spurred you to become a jewelry designer?

My mom used to make jewelry, I remembered her knotting cords and weaving in wood and glass beads into beautiful necklaces. She also created beautiful seed bead earrings and taught my sister and me how to create those pieces. My sister and I started making jewelry for friends and family, then others wanted to buy them. This lasted for a few years and then I stopped. I didn’t actually pick up a wire cutter and pliers until like 4 years ago. I haven’t stopped since! I love creating unique pieces with semi-precious stones and crystals for everyone to enjoy. I love to create earrings more but I create necklaces and bracelets too.

7. You have many beautiful earrings and stitch markers available; do you have a favorite?

I always have a favorite from each collection. I love my crystal drop earrings a lot. My clear crystal drop earrings go with so many things!

8. Whatโ€™s in store for the next season?

I am hoping to design more Knit and Crochet pieces. It’s a little tricky having a full-time job that takes a majority of my time.

9. Balancing entrepreneurship surely isnโ€™t easy. What keeps you going?

My friends and family!
Their support is out of this world. Whenever I try something new or have a moment of burn out they are there to encourage, listen and make me laugh. it’s the little things that make a big difference. I also try to find a balance between the things that are important to me. I like to make sure I am giving my time equally and fairly. I think myself and my business are worth that effort.

10. Last but not least, any advice for those looking to journey down a similar path? What do you think they should know?

It’s not easy, and it takes time and works. Always remember your ideas are worth it. Our creations are not for everyone, and that’s ok. Because the ones it’s meant to be for will find it, and it will spark joy. ๐Ÿ™‚
