Day 19 in the 24-simple advent patterns: Bobble headband
Warm-up any winter day with your favorite color and cast on! The bobble headband is super easy and fun to knit!
It adds some fun texture but still keeps your ears toasty.

This headband is knitted in one piece widthwise then seamed. It features bobbles and a garter stitch edge.
You need to know how to knit, purl, basic increase, and decrease.
The instructions are written in standard American terms. The pdf features photo support.
Knitting skill level: Easy, perfect project for new knitters
Needles: US 8 / 5 mm
Yarn: Aran (8 wpi)
Yardage: 132 yards / 121 meters
Gauge: 16 sts – 20 rows = 4″ (10 cm)
Other notions: Tapestry needle, Cable needle or spare double pointed needle
Sizing: 4.5″ x 16″ / 12 x 40 cm
Abbreviations
K – Knit
P – Purl
Kfb – Knit front and back
Sl1 – slip 1 stitch
Mb – make bobble: In one stitch kfb, K1 (you’ve made three more stitches into one stitch). Turn work so wrong side (WS) is facing you, P3. Turn so right side (RS) is facing, K3, Turn (WS), P3. Turn (RS), slip two stitches Purl-wise, K1, slip those two stitches over last knitted stitch.

Row 1: K3, mb, knit to the end of the row
Row 2: K3, purl to the last 3 sts, k3
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: K3, purl to the last 3 sts, k3
Row 5: K6, mb, knit to the end of the row
Row 6: K3, purl to the last 3 sts, k3
Row 7: Knit
Row 8: K3, purl to the last 3 sts, k3
Repeats these 8 rows until row 54.
Row 55: slip 10 stitches onto a cable needle and leave
them on hold at the front of the work. Take the strand, pass it behind these stitches, and knit the stitches on your left needle.
Now, take the cable needle in your left hand, passing it in front of the work (as if it was the left-hand needle) and knit the stitches.
Row 56: purl
Row 57: K12, mb, knit to the end of the row
Row 58: K3, purl to the last 3 sts, k3
Row 59: Knit
Row 60: K3, purl to the last 3 sts, k3
Row 61: K15, mb, knit to the end of the row
Row 62: K3, purl to the last 3 sts, k3
Row 63: Knit
Row 64: K3, purl to the last 3 sts, k3
Repeats rows 57-64 until row 118.
Bind off
FINISHING
Once you have finished knitting your project it will look like a twisted stripe!
To make it into a headband, sew the ends together.
To do this, thread the tapestry needle with the same yarn used for your project and sew with a zigzag stitch, picking up one stitch from each end of the headband.
To finish, make a knot and weave in the tail end of yarn about 3 inches, cut off even with the fabric. Weave in any loose ends in the same way.
