About

The Star Pot Hanger is worked in rounds and shaped with increases until the desired numbers of stitches are on the needles for the base. Then each section is knitted in flat with decreases, so it forms a sharp form.

TASSEL
[This video shows you how to make a tassel.]
Wrap yarn around a piece of cardboard 4″ (10 cm) about 50 times.
Thread a strand of yarn, insert it through the cardboard, and tie it at the top, leaving a long end to wrap around the tassel.
Cut the lower edge to free the wrapped strands.
Wrap the long end of the yarn around the upper edge and insert the yarn into the top.
Trim the strand.
Attach the Tassel at the center of the star: thread one of the long tails into the needle and stitch the tassel to the center of the star.
Weave that end of the yarn into the stitches on the pot hanger.
Then thread the other tail into the needle and stitch the tassel and pot hanger together for extra security.
Weave the ends and trim, if needed.

HANGING CORDS
Cut 5 – 59″ / 1.5 m strings for hanging straps, and put aside.
Working from back to front, draw yarn tail through the center of any star tip.
Re-insert hook through the loop and then in the middle of one strap, fasten off tight and knot together the three adjacent straps just above the star tip.
Repeat on the other four-star tips.

TYING THE HOOK
Gather the string sections, so they are equal length and thread through the ring.
Wrap ends around five string sections counter-clockwise.
Wrap ends up and pull through the loop made with fingers.
Pull ends through, and tight, forming a slip knot.
Weave in ends cutting them close to ring.
Insert pot, lining up star points, so they are at the same level around the pot.
Finally, your star potholder is complete. Hang and enjoy!
