How to Knit a Fantastic Market Bag

One year ago, I designed the same market bag, and I love its sturdy shape that helps me carry the groceries!
I used another Conchiglia Market Bag, not for the groceries but ad my project bag, and it’s just perfect.

Knit this beautiful Conchiglia Market Bag in the round, from bottom up.
This bag is the perfect way to carry around your groceries, travel items, your last project, and it’s ideal for the beach!

You can purchase the PDF of this pattern in my shop. In order to price my designs in a manner that maintains both financial accessibility and fair pricing, I offer a โ€œChoose What You Payโ€ model.

About

This market bag is knitted in the round from bottom up.
The base is worked in a Garter Stitch pattern. Stitches are then worked in a charted shell pattern, for textural and visual interest.
To the end, a sturdy garter pattern for adding more structure to the die-cut handles (the handles are built into the bag by creating โ€˜buttonholesโ€™ in the top band.)
And there is a pocket! A medium-sized pocket, perfect for your phone in your market bag.
You can purchase the inexpensive market bag pdf with both patterns and photo instructions for easy printing, on Etsy or Lovecraft. 1$ will be donated, read more here!
Or you can simply add this design to your Ravelry queue HERE!

Pocket

You can knit the pocket as a flap and then sew it in place, or you can pick up the base.

Flap:
Cast on 30 stitches and work in garter stitch for 45 rows, ending with an I-cord bind off. Block it on the WS, in the middle of the garter stitch triangle.

Pick up the bottom:
On the ws, in the middle of the main body garter stitch, counting 32 rows from the base and 1 sts after the end of the shell pattern, pick up one stitch for each stitch of the pocket, 30 stitches in total, and work in garter stitch for 45 rows, ending with an I-cord bind off.

For both:
Block or press the pocket and, using the overcast stitch, sew one stitch from the needle and one stitch from the pocket.
