Iโm looking forward to the leaves turning red and decorating my home with all things autumny. And thatโs why I came up with another pattern, perfect for Fall or Halloween: a fingering / DK / worsted pumpkin knitted pattern.

How do I knit a fingering / DK / worsted pumpkin?
Needles
Small pumpkin: US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needles (60 cm long) for magic loop method or dpns.
Medium pumpkin: US 7 / 4.5 mm circular needles (60 cm long) for magic loop method or dpns.
Big pumpkin: US 9 / 5.5 mm circular needles (60 cm long) for magic loop method or dpns.
Yardage
Small pumpkin in fingering yarn:
MC: 30.6 yds / 28 m
CC: 4.4 yds / 4 m
Medium pumpkin in DK yarn:
MC: 41.5 yds / 38 m
CC: 6.5 yds / 6 m
Big pumpkin in worsted yarn:
MC: 52.4 yds / 48 m
CC: 8.7 yds / 8 m
Gauge
9 sts per inch for small pumpkin, 8 sts per inch for medium pumpkin, 7 sts per inch for big pumpkin

DIRECTIONS
Using MC yarn CO 12 sts using any CO method you prefer.
If you want, you can place a sts marker every 2 sts.
Join for working in the round be careful to don’t twist stitches and place BOR marker.
Rnd 1: *K1, ptbl1; rep from * to the end of the round.
Rnd 2: *K1, ptbl1; rep from * to the end of the round.
Rnd 3: *M1, k1, ptbl; rep from * to the end of the round.
You should have 18 sts.
Rnd 4: *K1, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
Rnd 5: *M1, k1, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
You should have 24 sts.
Rnd 6: *K2, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
Rnd 7: *M1, k2, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
You should have 30 sts.
Rnd 8: *K3, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
Rnd 9: *M1, k3, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
You should have 36 sts.
Rnd 10: *K4, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
Rnd 11: *M1, k4, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
You should have 42 sts.
Rnds 12-13: *K5, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
Rnd 14: *M1, k5, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
You should have 48 sts.
Rnds 15-16: *K6, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
Rnd 17: *M1, k6, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
You should have 54 sts.
Rnds 18-23: *K7, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
Rnd 24: *Ssk, k5, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
You should have 48 sts.
Rnd 25: *K6, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
Rnd 26: *Ssk, k4, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
You should have 42 sts.
Rnd 27: *K5, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
Rnd 28: *Ssk, k3, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
You should have 36 sts.
Rnd 29: *Ssk, k2, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
You should have 30 sts.
Rnd 30: *Ssk, k1, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.
You should have 24 sts.
Turn the pumpkin inside out and, with a needle and scrap yarn, pass the thread between the column of the knit stitches you see inside the pumpkin until you reach the end. Do it for every column.
Flip the pumpkin back right side out. You should have 6 threads.
Stuff your pumpkin.
If you want your pumpkin to have a bit more heft, you can partially fill it with weighted pellets.
Rnd 31: *Ssk, ptbl2; rep from * to the end of the round.; rep from * to the end of the round.
You should have 18 sts.
Rnd 32: *Ssk, ptbl1; rep from * to the end of the round.; rep from * to the end of the round.
You should have 12 sts.
Rnd 33: *Ssk; rep from * to the end of the round.; rep from * to the end of the round removing all the markers but BOR.
You should have 6 sts.
Cut MC leaving a long tail.
Stem
Using a CC yarn, knit the stem for 1″ / 2.5 cm.
BO.
Finishing
Hold the pumpkin with one groove facing you. Gently pull on the yarn you used for that groove and cinch it up.
Thread that yarn onto a needle, plunge the needle down through the center of the pumpkin, and out the other side. Tug on the yarn to bring the top and bottom of the pumpkin closer together. Do it a few more times to emphasize the shape.
Repeat for each groove.
Weave in all the ends.
